6月21日 I'm shutting this shit down - go here instead. 6月19日 If you don't want to here the ramblings of a jaded helpdesk consultant, turn away now.
Nah, its not all that. I'm going to have a bit of a rant. This new mentor thing, I don't want to sound jaded, but I don't think that its going to work. I kinda hate saying that, but thats where we are at at the moment. I'm not really sure how its any different to the last program we had. Sure, this one has SCOORDS and team leaders, but where are they going to find the time to have input into the program? Not to mention the group sizes. Yeah, i hate to be hater, but ... yeah.
I would be looking at a program that focuses more on training the newer members of the teams, rather than BP's and etalk etc. Thats where the stress for the old schoolers is coming from (well me anyway). We need more people in NCO, we need people to stop calling in sick, we need lots of shit.
I think the reason that there is a higher rate of absenteeism is that people are stressed. The reason they are stressed is that there is way to much work on, you look at the boards, and there is 4 calls in NCO, and no one in the queue, or they are not in the skill. Thats stressfull.
Personaly I think that the team will fall back on the dedicated few. I'm willing to give it my best, but I need some support !! I say, all you willing out there who can see the OSC of 2 years ago back, sign up ! Let me know, and we will get moving, and WE will fix this team. Note, this will start after exams, cos thats more important.
6月16日 So, I'm
at work again, and not taking calls ! This shit is great, I could STL all day!
*Waits for STL's to comment on how shit their job is*
Sure, its not great (aka boring at times), but its not taking calls, and that’s
a good thing. Although, the dreaded 6am tests are still to come. It seams a
change is a good as a holiday at the moment.
More to the point the team seams to be riding on the shoulders of a dedicated
few at the moment, and my thoughts are that this will be common place untill we
all bail ! As Menzies and I just discussed, look at the management team ... the
ship is sinking, and all the rats want out. I'm not at all implying that our
managers are rats, but it looks as though we are on borrowed time.
That’s a shame cos this place (as evil as it can be) can be bloody good
for uni goers like me. Its pretty good cash (best for students in Ballarat) and
doesn't look to shabby on a resume. I'm not concerned about the work that we do
going elsewhere, frankly I couldn't give a fuck, but it's the students, and the
impact that this may have on the IT scene in Ballarat in general that is
concerning. I mean, apart from the place, the IT presence in Ballarat is far
from huge, so what will bring IT students to Ballarat if there is no job opportunities
??
Hey, I just changed a wallboard, GO ME !!
6月11日 So, here
I am, another overnight, bored out of my skull.
In other (some would say more interesting) new, I've finished university !!!!
Well, I say that, but I still have some cisco classes to go (their at smb, so
they don’t count) and I've still gota pass my exams (but I'm the smartest guy
around, so they don't count either). Either way, I'm pretty stoked.
To celebrate that, I had a pretty good weekend. Friday night was spent in the
matrix (will mean something to some people ) at home, was very good times ! Saturday saw
a night at karova which was not huge, but pretty good, and I only spent $50 !!
How (good) is that !?!?!
In the theme of more random updates, my poor old car needs some major TLC. See
the list :
- Figure out if her transmission can be resurrected
(leaking oil everywhere, and then slipping gears)
- New suspension all round. Including springs,
shocks, bushes, and god knows what else. I'm thinking ill go for some FE2
gear (same as the cops use) so she sits down a bit, and doesn't wallow
around on the road like a 1970's Cadillac.
- Brakes need work, very doughy.
- Service, and some other little niggles.
So that
will set me back a bit, but hopefully I can do most of it myself, with some
assistance from a mechanic friend. This should see her well past the 400,000 km
mark that is coming up fast. If you can't tell, I love my car and will spend
more than its worth to keep it going, we've had some great times!
This is all part of a grander plan that will see me overseas (with any luck,
the bludgers that I associate with will come as well ) around the middle of next year. So that
means plans for the purchase of the new Death Star (car) will be postponed.
The trip itinerary will go something like this; fly into LA, buy a car (something
like the afore mentioned cady !) and drive through the desert, Vegas and Yellowstone into Canada. From there, its through the
Rockeys and all the way up into Anchorage in Alaska. There, sell car and fly into
somewhere in eastern Europe, and head west toward GB, and most importantly, Amsterdam. Where we visit along the way
depends on a lot of things, cos there is so much that I want to see.
Anyways, thats about it for now, enjoy !4月27日 Title says it all bitches.
4月17日 03.16 - Done about 20 minutes of actual work. I started at 19.30. I haven't even logged anything above a sev 3.
